About CGC:

Who Are We?
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business ("Chicago Booth") has a history of altruism. Student groups such as Net Impact and Giving Something Back provide compelling examples of student collaboration to assist the community. In December 2004 when the tsunami tragedy hit Southeast Asia, and then again in October 2005 after the South Asian earthquake, these groups mobilized efforts within Chicago Booth to provide aid. Their success uncovered a desire within our community for greater involvement in issues facing the world beyond our borders. Chicago Global Citizens was founded.

Our Mission
Chicago Global Citizens (CGC) addresses social and economic needs in developing countries by utilizing the skills and resources of the Chicago Booth community. CGC organizes programs that make a concrete, measurable impact in the developing world.

Our Focus

Over the past twenty years, significant progress has been made to alleviate poverty and increase opportunities for many individuals and communities in the developing world. Various non-profit and non-governmental organizations strive to solve the puzzle of economic development to continue this improvement. However, there is still an enormous amount of work that needs to be done to give people in developing countries a chance to improve their quality of life. Chicago Global Citizens recognizes that measurable, meaningful consulting projects can serve as a catalyst for poverty reduction and economic growth. Therefore, CGC strives to design diverse projects each academic year to harness the skills and resources of the Chicago Booth community in areas as wide ranging as education, healthcare, foreign direct investment, and philanthropy.
