MNM Bed Nets project's goal is to map out the bed net supply chain and surrounding environment of bed net demand, procurement, purchase and distribution in the world.
Students will work in a team to create a diagrammatic representation of the supply chain of bed nets, from manufacturing through to net in site: starting with how they are requested, who funds them, where are they produced, who they get transported by, who the consignee is in country, who distributes them, how they end up over beds and how they get replaced every five years. Bed nets are currently distributed by private institutions, governments and philanthropic organizations. The team will consider all of these sources of bed net distribution.
Further, students will investigate beyond the supply chain to provide an overview of the current net distribution and measureable results per country to understand the landscape of protagonists, how they approach the challenge and what their results look like in their different models of approach. Some analysis of the effectiveness of each of these approaches will be useful.
